Do you often find yourself caught up in what feels like a never-ending whirlwind of tasks and responsibilities? Are you constantly striving to keep up with the demands of daily life? Does the notion of rest seem like a distant dream? Do you need someone to give you permission to rest?

I was unexpectedly widowed and left to raise two teenage daughters, run a farm, and take over all of the responsibilities (just like you). I know life can feel overwhelming and the concept of rest can seem like something you “used to do.”
However, the reality is that rest is an essential component in your ability to function and heal from your loss. It’s crucial for your mind, body, and emotions, and it’s the key to living fully and authentically.
Rest enables us to recharge our energy, nourish our souls, cultivate creativity, and find beauty and inspiration in the world around us. All things we so desperately need.

Consider the poem by Victoria Erickson. Her words have become an invitation to rest and to contemplate my world. Ultimately, her words encourage me to view rest not as a luxury or indulgence, but as vital as breathing, eating and sleeping.
What if you could grant yourself permission to lay down the mantle of busyness and work, and allow yourself the opportunity to reconnect with the simple joys of existence? Could you do it?
Could you give yourself permission to rest?
Imagine strolling through a lush garden, feeling the soft earth beneath your feet and the gentle breeze against your skin.
Picture yourself pausing to inhale the crisp scent of the sky, letting it fill your lungs with a sense of peace and serenity.
Consider rest an essential part of your healing process.
Rest is your catalyst for personal growth and renewal, particularly after the loss of your loved one. Give yourself permission to rest, and then schedule time to make it happen. You might find yourself in a much better mental state and able to better navigate the complexities of widowhood.
My friends, you can do this, and as always, I’m here to help.
