Do you ever find yourself feeling untethered in your life after loss? Do you wish you could find a purpose or a new plan for you life? If you have thoughts about what to do and what you want in your life, do you still struggle to make those wishes into realities?

The loss of your loved one can leave anyone grappling with overwhelming emotions and a sense of uncertainty about the future. What if I told you there is a powerful tool that can help pave the way to healing and moving forward?
It’s called intentionality. When you learn how to unleash the power of intentionality in your life, You can find strength, purpose, and a renewed sense of direction in your life.
Intentionality is a concept that refers to the state of being directed towards or about something. Rollo May defines intentionality as “the structure which gives meaning to experience.”
Practicing intentionality involves developing habits and adopting a mindful approach in various aspects of your life. The benefits include: clarity, focus, motivation, goal achievement, and personal growth just to name a few.
So, how do you begin practicing intentionality in your life?
Reflect on your values
Take time to identify your core values and what truly matters to you. What brings you joy, fulfillment, and a sense of purpose? Understanding your values will help you set intentions that align with who you are and what you want to achieve. If the protection of animals is a core value, then activities that support that core value such as volunteering at an animal shelter, fostering kittens, or writing a check each month to the SPCA become your intentionality and alignment.
Set clear intentions
Be specific about what you want to manifest or achieve in different areas of your life, such as relationships, career, health, personal growth, or any other domain. Write down your intentions in a clear and positive manner, using present tense language. I call these my “I am” statements. “I am building loving and supportive relationships,” or “I am advancing in my career with passion and purpose.”
Create daily rituals
Establish intentional rituals that support your overall well-being and help you focus on your intentions. These rituals can include activities like journaling, meditation, visualization, affirmations, or gratitude practice. Engaging in these practices regularly reinforces your intentions and keeps them at the forefront of your mind. If being disciplined is one of your intentions, then making your bed every morning or jumping in a cold shower for one minute each day can become a ritual that supports your intentions.
Be A Mindful decision-making
Before making decisions, pause and reflect on whether the choices align with your intentions and values. Consider the potential impact of your decisions on your long-term goals. Consciously making choices that support your intentions will create a greater sense of alignment and fulfillment in your life. Go back to writing that check to the SPCA or taking the cold shower in the morning.
Practice present-moment awareness
Cultivate mindfulness in your daily life. Be fully present and engaged in whatever you are doing. Whether it’s having a conversation, working on a task, or simply enjoying a moment of relaxation, give your full attention to the present experience. This helps you stay connected to your intentions and make conscious choices in each moment. It will also help you manage anxious thoughts.
Take inspired action
Break down your intentions into actionable steps and consistently take small, purposeful actions towards your goals. Set realistic timelines and hold yourself accountable. By taking consistent and intentional steps, you create momentum and progress towards your desired outcomes.
Regularly review and reassess
Set aside time periodically to review your intentions, assess your progress, and make any necessary adjustments. Life is dynamic, and your intentions may evolve as you grow and change. Regularly checking in with yourself ensures that your intentions remain relevant and aligned with your current aspirations.
Surround yourself with support
Seek support from like-minded individuals who can help you stay accountable, provide guidance, or offer encouragement along your intentional journey. Engage in communities or find a mentor who can support and inspire you in living a purposeful life.
Remember, unleashing the power of intentionality is an ongoing practice. Stay consistent, maintain a positive mindset, and trust the process. With time and dedication, you can unleash the power of your intentions and create a new life to love.
Blessings,
Julie
